Portfolio Photography

Professional boudoir photography by Trident Photography

I had a couple of girls who needed some images for their portfolios drop by for a session. We left the format wide open, and did not decide on what we would do ahead of time, but rather just threw caution to the wind and winged it. Once Katherine and Alicia arrived we decided to work in the studio as opposed to outdoors. Not that the weather was bad, but the outfits did not lend themselves to public display so much. We had a great time, and got some great images out of it. Here are a few to share with you all.

Model shoot

June 20, 2009

Sometimes you just need to head out and have some fun as a photographer. I went out with a bunch of my pals from the PPOC to an event called GOYA, which is short for ‘get off yer ass’. It is bascally a time where we can all come together to shoot for fun and try out some new stuff in a no pressure environment. I decided to keep it simple and only brought 1 light and 2 lenses. Sometimes you just dont want to pack 40lbs of gear around with you. The lack of equipment didn’t deter me from trying out some cool techniques though. I was using a cross colour balance technique to get the ambient light to a really cool blue, along with a high speed synch to drop the early evening light level (which in June might as well be midday) way down to look like a late evening light level. Here are some of my faves from the shoot.

A New Friend

Jenna - by Trident Photography

Jenna - by Trident Photography

You know how sometimes you meet someone, and instantly there is a good chemistry between you. I was fortunate enough to have that happen with Jenna, a young lady who needed some headshots for her portfolio. I noticed it right away when she came over for the pre-shoot consultation. It was a pleasure to work with her, and I was continually surprised at how much we are alike. I am normally pretty reserved, and try to keep it very professional when working with a client, but we were bantering back and forth like old friends. I think that is why the photos we made were so stunning. I hope to work with you again. I know you will go far based on your personality, and hey, you can always fall back on your degree right? ; )
